KEEP OUR MOST PRECIOUS CLIMBING & HIKING SPACE OPEN!
On May 13th, 2011 the Department of Parks and Recreation released a list of 70 state parks that will be permanently closed due to budget cuts. Although park have been discussed in the past, this is the first time in the 100 year history of California's park system that closures will in-fact be implemented. One of the Bay Area and Central Coast's most precious natural resources, Castle Rock State Park, is on that permanent closure list.
All is not lost - The Portola Redwoods & Castle Rock Foundation, the Park's official cooperating association and The Sempervirens Fund, the organization that created the Park in 1968 have joined forces with local businesses and open space advocates to keep Castle Rock open: read the official press release.
We need your help! Our movement can be supported in several ways:
- Donate directly to the The Portola Redwoods & Castle Rock Foundation. State specifically that your donation is to "Keep Castle Rock Open" to direct the funds appropriately.
