Dynamite Surfing - Analyized

Any surfer that is "linked in" to the information age has probably seen this video:

This nifty advertisment for Quicksilver Surf Co. has been viewed over 20 million times in the last year and a half. But the question still remains - is it real? The grainy-ness of the film quality really makes it difficult to tell. In addition, after the dynamite blast, the camera zooms in on the cloud of water vapor turning the screen completely white.

So is it fake or not? You be the judge. Leave your comments.

Fake,
there is a wave in front of the one being surfed, should only be one pulse of energy.

It's very easy to tell it's fake. I would have expected a tight circular impulse wave... the wave we see is very linear and totally ocean-like wave. No question it's just a neat series of edits and image splices. A kid that's never seen the ocean might be fooled. Fun to watch to see what they are doing. I really worried about the fish and aquatic life being killed with the dynamite (if real). For that reason alone, I would suggest the video be put in the waste pile.
