Santa Cruz, CA – September 23rd, 2008 – Adventure Out, California's leader in outdoor adventure is now holding its Mountain Biking I Clinic at DeLaveaga Park in Santa Cruz. This course is geared towards people who want to learn the basics on their mountain bike – from bike maintenance, to proper riding technique, body position, and trail etiquette. On and off-bike instruction will ensure that all participants are hitting the trail safely and responsibly.
DeLaveaga is a City of Santa Cruz park offering miles of trails through the city’s greenbelt and a wide variety of terrain ranging from grass and Live Oak hillsides, to deep redwood forests. The new Mountain Biking program by Adventure Out marks the second collaboration with the City of Santa Cruz to offer high-quality, professional and legitimate outdoor guiding services on City controlled land.
Adventure Out CEO Cliff Hodges explains the importance of these guide-to-government relationships: "Several sectors of the outdoor guiding industry have been operating for decades now on public lands with little or no regulation. While this may have been convenient for many independent guides, it has led to a decrease in professionalism and safety standards. Adventure Out has been working with local, state, and federal governments for the past 5 years to clearly define permit standards for all commercial guide services and outdoor professionals in every location that we operate."
