Q: Where do we meet for the class?

A: All climbing classes meet at Castle Rock State Park in the hill outside of Saratoga, CA. The park is located on Hwy 35 (also known as Skyline Blvd), approximately 2.25 miles south of the intersection of Hwy 35 and Hwy 9. Here is a map to the location: https://advout.co/CastleRockMap. PLEASE PRINT DIRECTIONS IF YOU ARE UNFAMILAR WITH THE AREA!!! There is no cell reception in these mountains. If you get lost and miss your class, you will forfeit your class fee.

Q: What time should I arrive for my class?

A: Parking is usually easy in the mornings and during the week – you can arrive just 5 minutes before your class start time. For weekend afternoon classes, we recommend arriving 20-30 minutes early to find parking. Parking on-site costs $10 cash.

Q: Do I need to remit payment at the class site?

A: No, if you’ve registered online, your credit card has been charged and you are paid.  GRATUITIES: Our instructors work very hard and do accept gratuities.  Typical gratuity rates are 10-20% of your class fee.

Q: I don’t have a car, Is there public transportation available?

A: There is no public transportation to Castle Rock. We can attempt to find you a rideshare with another student (we are usually successful). Or, get a ride from Lyft! Adventure Out has partnered with Lyft to get new users a ride credit towards your first ride (credit amount varies with Lyft monthly promotions and can range from $5-$25). Q: What should I bring with me?

A: Be prepared to spend a day in the woods. The climbing location is approximately a 15 minute hike from the parking lot. You should have appropriate clothing, sun protection, snacks, water, and a day backpack.
