Guide Training Program


This program is for both existing outdoor guides and business owners, as well as those new to the field and aspiring to run their own program. Hone your skills, learn our methodologies behind the programs we teach, and learn the Adventure Out system and business model so that you can begin to run your own programs and teach others with success and a consistent client base. Adventure Out has gone open source – we will be sharing everything we’ve learned in the past decade with you to raise the level of professionalism in the outdoor industry.

Each guide training course will contain information that is applicable to any adventure business, regardless of the activities your business offers (or will offer). Roughly 30 percent of the workshop is activity-based and discusses programming structure and setup, as well as working with people in the outdoors in a safe and professional manner. While 70 percent focuses more on business practices & successful adventure program operation. In short, anyone can benefit from this program and with hard work, can use the skills and information shared here to start their own business, or continue operating an existing one with more success and sustainable practices.

Once the training course has been completed, guides and schools may apply for affiliation to license the name Adventure Out can begin running their own outdoor programs.



Due to a large-scale renovation project on our training facility, our Guide Training & Affiliation Seminar is being “paused” for 2023. Please stay tuned and check back in December 2023 for our updated 2024 dates!

Payment Terms:

A $250 deposit will be charged to your credit card upon application and acceptance. This deposit is NON-REFUNDABLE. Your final balance is due 2 weeks in advance of the seminar start date.


Existing outdoor programs, upon approval, will be able to start using the “Adventure Out” brand to drive more business to their schools. Upon approval, accredited programs will be listed on as regional affiliates for the brand.  Affiliates will receive marketing support ranging from client referrals, to advertising assistance, website creation, and each new affiliate will receive a 1-on-1 business consulting session with Adventure Out Founder Cliff Hodges.

New instructors / businesses that have been open for less than 2 years can now open their doors, after completing our Training and Certification program, using the Adventure Out business model and brand to get new clients in the door immediately.  If you are looking to open an adventure business, or have a new business just getting off the ground, enroll in our guide training program to receive crucial training in the Adventure Out methods and business model.
